OHSU study finds Oregon's regulated psilocybin program largely beneficial with few serious adverse reactions
Researchers at Oregon Health & Science University analyzed outcomes for almost 350 people who used psilocybin at state-licensed centers and found most trips were beneficial and more than half ranked them among the most meaningful experiences of their lives. The study, published in JAMA Network Open on August 19, 2026, reported only a very small number of "serious adverse reactions" and led the study director, Dr. Todd Korthuis, to say the data "has swayed me."
