- Iranian deputy foreign minister says delegation raised US violations of MoU
- The first was a session of the Monitoring and Implementation Working Group, one of four bodies established under the US-Iran memorandum of understanding.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has publicly stated that the Iranian delegation raised concerns regarding US violations of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) during recent meetings with mediators from Qatar and Pakistan.
The Iranian delegation held two rounds of discussions, which included a session of the Monitoring and Implementation Working Group, a body established to oversee the MoU's execution. Gharibabadi emphasized that the delegation specifically addressed the US's failure to adhere to Article 1 of the MoU, which mandates an end to hostilities across all fronts.
Furthermore, the Iranian representatives expressed their concerns about reported US military actions aimed at bolstering its forces and equipment in the region, as well as interventionist remarks made by US officials.
This development occurs against the backdrop of heightened tensions following the US and Israel's coordinated military strikes against Iran that began in early March 2026. The Iranian government has been vocal about its grievances regarding perceived US's military actions and violations of international agreements, which it argues exacerbate regional instability.
The discussions with Qatari and Pakistani mediators reflect Iran's ongoing diplomatic efforts to address these issues and seek a resolution to the ongoing conflict. As the situation evolves, the implications of these discussions may influence future diplomatic engagements and military strategies in the region.
